The campaign for Seven's Rio 2016 Olympics coverage, was a massive green-screen production, to sell the broadcast's high tech set - which was yet to be built.
Working to a tight timetable, we developed a tracking and measuring system that would let us insert the set behind the talent once shot.
I served as pre-production designer- storyboarding, concept designing and creating animatics with our 3D team. After the shoot I took on the role of post-production/VFX supervisor and art director, working with 7 Creative's talented compositing and 3D team, to deliver the final result.
Produced by Daniel Droll and Anita Lun.
To bring 7mate in line with Seven's other channels, it needed a tune up.
We kept the the essentials: "Go-Faster" stripes, double chevrons, blokey textures, matey-dog and his sense of humour.
The challenge with mate, is to make some average and old titles feel as fresh as the flagship programs and blockbuster movies.
So we created the stripe panels - a grid - that would be flexible enough to cater for all content. Spectacular footage could take pride of place, as could great talent shots, and failing that, textures and poster art could fill in the gaps.
A standard type-face for old films, as well as a consistent tune-in time position, cut down the design time, and catered for the frequent programming changes that occur on this experimental channel.
I was concept and lead designer for the refresh, and the ongoing design for 7mate.
For 2017's Summer of 7Tennis, our focus was to sell the Ausssies who had, at this stage, a bit of a bad rep.
We created the brand of the Aussie Rebels, to differentiate from the global stars of the sport. When the rebels were on screen, their war paint would glow, pumping up the local crowd.
The campaign was constantly re-imagined to fit the dynamic of 6 Tournaments, and stay fresh over 2 months of Tennis. This culminated with the Australian Open Men's Final, drawing an average of 3.6 Million viewers- the largest Australian TV audience of 2017 (as of time of writing.)
I served as concept and lead designer for the campaign, animated and created the in-camera effects.
Produced by Anita Lun and Reilly Baker. Compositing & audio by 7 Creative Design.
Billabong's surf / TREK range, drew inspiration from hiking and sneaker culture, with modern shapes and functional for everyday travel.
I served as designer and developer for this particular series, including back packs and travel bags, as well as its sister range, Pocket Trek: a collapsable travel series.
Design Manager, Nigel Thew.
Using our existing 3D package, we refreshed Seven's AFL promos look to be bolder and louder.
2D type, contrasting colours and cut-away footage were added, while our team shields were given more dramatic backgrounds and atmosphere.
I served as designer, animator and compositor. 3D by Motion Foundry and 7 Creative. Produced by Simon Atkinson.
A range of travel accessories to compliment Billabongs luggage range, including consumer electronics, and a focus on reducing waste with re-usable bottles, coffee cups, and some packaging.
The water bottles were a collaboration with Miir: a company which provides clean drinking water to developing communities, with every water bottle sold.
